East/West Shrine Game

Travis was invited to play in the East/West Shrine Game on January 17, 2009 in Houston, Texas. What an honor!! We are so proud of him and all the hard work he has done. :)

Pioneer Bowl in Las Vegas

BYU played in the Pioneer Bowl against U of A on Saturday, December 20th. Unfortunately, BYU lost, but they sure played hard. Final score was 31-21. It's interesting that Travis' first game playing for BYU and his last game playing for BYU was against U of A.

During last year's Pioneer Bowl game Travis got hurt during the 3rd quarter. We were all SO glad when Travis stood up after each play during each quarter. lol We DID NOT want to have to spend another Christmas in the hospital.

It has been a such an amazing experience going to the games and cheering on the BYU Cougars and being there to support Travis. Mom, Jessica, and I will certainly miss being Travis' little groupies. :)

BYU vs. Utah

24-48

Well ..... This was a sad way to end the season. Utah won. There were times when we thought we would win, but well ... you win some, you lose some. BYU played and tried hard. Travis made an AWESOME "pancake" during the first quarter. Poor ole Utah Ute soul! :)

I will say, the Utah fans are SO not nice. Some BYU fans mentioned they had beer thrown on them. I just can't believe the way they act and treat not just BYU fans, but people! I know it's the rival school, but some people really just take it too far. I know I'll probably get some slack for this, but it is only a game. And what kills me is the fans act like THEY had anything to do with the game. Whenever Utah scored, they would yell and shout at the BYU fans. Not shout and cheer at the players to show their support. They are the ones doing all the work.

I don't consider myself as a die-hard fan, but I am a fan who knows it's just a game and I'm proud for all they do and for what they stand for. As long as the players do the best they can, what more can we expect?? Just my opinion.

Now we just wait to hear which bowl game BYU will be playing at. Can't wait for that!!! :)

Twilight Movie

The Twilight movie is here!!! My friend, Rebecca and I went to see the movie today at midnight! I have never gone to a midnight movie. The line was out the door and around the corner in the back of the theater! CRAZY!!! We only waited outside for about an hour, and then waited another 2 hours in the theater before the movie started. Now, before I mention what I thought of the movie, I'm going to say that there are some freaky Twi-Nerds out there! Girls were screaming when the movie started and every time Edward was in the scene they would scream. I told Rebecca I think the girl behind me needs a brown bag before she passes out. Those girls were so loud during the whole movie and hardly ever stoped talking! Oh, we thought we were going to have to slap someone. lol

BUT ... the movie was SO good! I tried not to get my hopes up about the movie because didn't want to be disappointed. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see it again and again!

Senior Tribute

Last week against San Diego was the last BYU home game. Before the game, the Seniors were called one by one onto the field. WOW... I got so emotional seeing Travis walk out onto the field for the last time. Then, after the game, BYU played special tribute to the seniors by calling them back onto the field followed by their family members. The Seniors were given lais when they came on the field. It was so cool seeing all the guys coming on the field with their family. The last guy had so many lais you could barely see his head! :)
I can't believe 4 years has come and gone ... It has been so amazing watching Travis play. Not sure what we are going to do next year during football season! :)
Great Job Travis! Thank you for the memories.

BYU vs. Air Force

38-24
WOOHOO! WE WON!!! ("We" ... like I had anything to do with it!! lol) Such an awesome game! I'm so glad BYU won. I love going to the Air Force games in CO. The soldiers on the field before the game, the jets flying over the field, and well... men in uniform! ;) hehe There were some really great plays by BYU ... the catch Collie made in the last quarter. Catching the ball by his fingertips!!! So freakin' cool! Travis was so awesome on the field. One play he was blocking as Max Hall was running with the ball and totally tripped a guy! I was laughing so hard. (Don't worry, they have pads. He was okay.) CO is so pretty and the Air Force fans are so nice!!
This weekend is the rival game against Utah. It should be fun. Little worried about the fans, but hopefully it won't be too bad. And I hope BYU wins ... oh I hope BYU wins! :)

BYU vs. San Diego

41-12
WOW ... what a great game! When San Diego had possession of the ball for the FIRST time, it was fumbled on the first play and became BYU's ball! That's right!! What a great way to start the game. :) I must say, after the past couple close games, I was SO glad we kept a big lead the whole time. One of my favorite plays in this game was when Travis was looking for someone to block from the quarterback, but there was no one he could block so he went over to help one of his teammates and totally body slammed the San Diego guy. lol I was cracking up laughing! I wonder if Travis' teammate is thinking "Dang, I had him!" (but not really) and the San Diego guy is thinking "Dang ... where did he come from? And where am I??" hahaha Oh, I'm going to miss watching Travis pancake other guys and knocking them to the ground watching their arms and legs kicking underneath Travis trying to get up. I just want to yell at him to relax, just lay still, and it will be over soon. :) haha
This weekend is Air Force and I can't wait to go!

Mr. Peterson

Mr. Peterson was one of my customers at work. Although, I didn't think of him too much as a "customer." He was one of my favorite people. Sadly, Mr. Peterson passed away on Thursday, October 30th. When I heard of his passing, it was the sadest thing I have heard of in a long time. Mr. Peterson would come into work to sometimes just sit and chat with me. In the beginning of 2008, Mr. Peterson and his wife moved to Scottsdale (and I thought THIS was the sadest thing I heard of). I was afraid I was going to lose contact with this great man. But, nope ... :) He still would call me and even drive down to Chandler just to come see me. (Now let me just clarify for any that are wondering what is going on ... Mr. Peterson was 62 years old. He was just a man I truly admired and loved talking to him.) One day, Mr. Peterson came in to tell me he was called to be the Bishop of a Singles Ward in Chandler. My first thought was, "You just moved to Scottsdale!" Then my second thought was "I wonder if I can get a boundary exception so he could be my Bishop??" I knew he would be an amazing Bishop and be an inspiration and wonderful example to the single adults in his ward. He was SO excited about this calling. :)

Today was the funeral for Mr. Peterson. The chapel was filled with everyone that loved him: family, friends, and the single adults from the ward. Everyone talked about his love of his family, Heavenly Father, and anyone he came in contact with. It was so true too!! Several times he would come to my work driving his wife's car and when I would ask what happened to his car he would tell me he takes her car when he needs to put gas in it. That used to crack me up! But, now I know it was just Mr. Peterson's way of taking care of his wife and just doing anything for her. Mr. Peterson would always ask me how I'm doing with my church attendance and making sure I stayed in touch with my Heavenly Father and was reading my scriptures. He knew how important it was to have a close relationship with Heavenly Father.

One of the speakers today talked about a conversation Mr. Peterson had with him. Mr. Peterson told him that he never had a "guys night out" because when he married Mrs. Peterson, she was the only person he wanted to ever go out with. He said he felt lost and alone when she wasn't with him. Mr. Peterson described his wife as his best friend, loving wife, and eternal companion. What a compliment!

I thought a lot about my dad during the funeral. A lot of comments made about Mr. Peterson were similar to how I thought of my dad and/or how others thought of my dad. Maybe that's why I loved Mr. Peterson so much.

Mr. Peterson will be deeply missed...

Bode the Pirate

Isn't he a cutie!?!?!! For Bode's first Halloween, Travis and Alison dressed him up as a Pirate. I just love the patch over his eye. :)

BYU vs. CSU

45-42
WHAT A GAME!! :) It was so close - up to the last few minutes. Every time CSU scored, BYU scored and in the final minute, we scored the last touchdown to win the game. :) The commentators made a few comments about the CSU coaches. Basically, the coaches were upset about Travis hitting and pushing a lot of the CSU guys down. lol Oh well, that's part of the game. If they don't like it, stay on the bench! hehe
BYU is now 8-1! Can't wait for next weeks game! :)

Bode - 7 Months

Cute Bode!! Can't believe he is 7 months old now ... almost 8 months. At our last visit to Utah (just this past weekend), Bode is now crawling all over the place! No more "army crawls", Bode is crawling everywhere - and he's a fast one! He's such a little stud and growing so much. We just can't get enough of him. :)

BYU vs. UNLV

42-35
WHAT A GAME!! The last minute of the game was a bit nerve racking, but at the last play, UNLV through a "hail Mary" into the end zone. However, BYU was determined to NOT allow them to score. The ball was intercepted by BYU and we won the game!
Travis made an AWESOME play by knocking down a UNLV player which made a hole for #45 to score a touchdown. SO AWESOME!! BYU is now 7-1. KEEP IT UP COUGARS! :)

Trip to Texas

This was the first time I've ever been to Texas. The people there were all so nice and friendly. On Friday, day after the game, Mom, Jessica, and I had some time to kill before going to the airport. So, we went out to lunch and I stupidly ordered chicken. (Those that know me, know I'm a steak girl.) But, we all wanted to get something different and share off each other. Mom ordered the steak and one bite out of the steak .... Oh my gosh! I asked the waitress for my own steak. I took the chicken home. :) After lunch, we walked around to the other shops - it was so much fun! It was like a real old western town.

BYU vs. TCU

7-32

TCU was a real tough team. They were quick little guys. But, BYU sure played tough and their hardest! There were two different times when Travis knocked down two TCU guys at the same time! Yes, 2 at once!! Man, I love seeing Travis pancake those guys! Good thing they have padding. :)

BYU vs. New Mexico

21-3
What a game! This was the homecoming game and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the Cougars win against New Mexico. :)
It was pretty cold when we were there, but all I can say is thank goodness it didn't rain/snow while at the game. The next day however ... we woke up to about 4-5 inches of snow! Then we came home to the AZ 90 degree weather. Oh I love AZ!!!

Visit to Utah 10-3-08

This past weekend, Mom, Jessica, and I enjoyed another visit to Utah to watch BYU win against USU. I have so much fun going to the games and seeing family each weekend. Bode is growing so much! The picture posted is Bode at almost 7 months old. He's getting so big! Mom told me this picture reminded her of a picture she has with me (about 4 yrs old) holding my new baby brother Travis (probably a couple months old). Travis was so big and long it looked like he was holding me!

This weekend we also celebrated Alison's birthday (Happy Birthday!!!). Jessica asked Travis for some advise on what to get Alison. Travis mentioned a few gifts Alison would like (Ironman movie and 9mm gun "for bonding times with her husband"), and it's a good thing Jessica followed her instincts - those gifts were what Travis wanted!! Little stinker. We had so much fun hanging out with Travis, Alison, and Bode. :)

BYU vs. USU

34-14
Another great win for BYU!! We were worried about being at the game with what the weather man said as "thundershowers", but it was clear and pretty cold! The next day however (Saturday) was raining all day. THANK GOODNESS the game was on Friday. :) We had a great time and can't wait for the next game.

BYU vs. Wyoming

44-0
Another wonderful shut out game!!! Once again offense was outstanding in pushing for those yards and getting a touchdown! One amazing play was when Wyoming had the ball, the QB through the ball but a BYU player tipped the ball and it was caught by BYU in the air which then resulted in a touchdown. SO freakin amazing!!! I'm surprised I haven't lost my voice by now. :) After the game, it was announced that the last time BYU had a double shut out game was in 1985. The scores were: 59-0; 44-0. Coincidence?? Pretty freaky!! Can't wait for the next game. GO COUGARS!!

Bode

Bode is now 6 months old. He is getting so big!! I get to see Bode every weekend as go watch BYU kick some butt. :) Can't believe how big he is getting. His smile is contagious and he has 2 little teeth on the bottom of his mouth. I just can't wait to hear him talking. He's such a cutie and I can't get enough of him.

BYU vs. UCLA

59-0
Oh yes, you read that right. 59-0, zilch, nada! The only thing I can say about that is "YEAHBABY!!!" BYU did such a great job with the defense holding the line and offense pushing for a touchdown. Two times when BYU punted the ball to UCLA, they fumbled the ball, we caught it and in the next play we got a touchdown. What a game! :)

BYU vs. Washington

28-27
WOW ... this was an AMAZING game! BYU beat the Washington Huskies by 1 point. 1 POINT!! We were on the edge of our seats the last 2 minutes hoping and praying we could hold them off. But, then Washington got a touch down in the last 10 seconds of the game. We just knew that it was going to be a tied game or maybe go into overtime. (I still don't know if it's a non-conference game would the game go into overtime or end in a tie??) But, as Washington went for the point after, we "BLOCKED THAT KICK!" Oh it was so exciting!!! The Cougars ate the Dogs right up! :)

Back to School.......

Well, school started up again a couple weeks ago. I'm finishing my degree in Business Management. (Let's hope I don't change my major again!) This semester I'm taking 2 classes: Accounting and Economics. Yes, it's ok to cringe .... I do every week. One thing I like about going to the Community College (besides the fact that it's MUCH cheaper) is the instructors know that those going to school at night are typically ones that work full-time and/or have a family to take care of. So they are more understanding that things come up and are willing to work around any schedule problems. Unless it's just me, but majority of the night instructors at the community college have been in the field they are teaching in for a long time. I like when they use real life situations within their teaching. Makes it more exciting than reading chapters in a book. :)

BYU vs. Northern Iowa

41-17

This past weekend BYU played against Northern Iowa and we won!!! It was a good game and so much fun watching my brother, Travis (#74) "pancake" his opponents! What a great way to start off the season. :) I screamed so much, I thought I was going to lose my voice. Can't wait for the next game this coming weekend!

Breaking Dawn

Okay, if you have not read the Twilight Series, you are missing out on one of the greatest romance, adventure, and thrilling books I have ever read! At first, I thought "A book about a vampire?? Whatever, it's going to be so dumb!" Boy was I WRONG! I absolutely love these books. I read the first 3 books in about 4 days while on vacation in Utah. I thought it took forever for the 4th book (Breaking Dawn) to come out. When it finally did .... I was once again a little book worm.

These books kept me intrigued every single page. Now if I can only find my Edward. :)

Boot Camp

For the past 2 months, Jessica and I have been doing boot camp. We go one hour a day, two days a week. It's a lot of fun and so well worth it! (Granted I only say it's "fun" when the workout is over.) Our trainer isn't the typical drill sergent, yelling in your face all the time kind of trainer. I don't like that! She keeps us motivated and makes us want to work harder. However, there are times I want to glare at her and tell her to "GO AWAY!" but when you see results, you can't help but want to keep going and working more.

I will say I HATE burpies. A burpie is when you start in a standing position, then you put your hands on the ground shoulder length apart, then kick your legs back, then bring your legs back up, and stand up. Then you repeat! Nope ... don't like this one.

This is new .......

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! This is new for me and somewhat exciting! Just a quick note of what I've been doing lately:

  1. Still working like crazy at the bank and still loving it!
  2. Still working on getting my dgree in Business Management (hopefully this will be the last time I change my major)
  3. My little nephew was born March 10, 2008 and he's such a little stud! At 4 months old, he's 15 1/2 lbs and 29 1/2 inches long. :)
  4. Just finished the Twilight book series and I am a HUGE fan! If you haven't read it yet, you must read it soon.

Well, hope you enjoy my blog and please be patient with me as I get used to this. :)

My Family

In June 2008, my family and I got our pictures taken. There was this nice old barn outside Provo, UT. The weather was great, the day was perfect, and the scenery was gorgeous!

Bode Glenn Bright

This is my new nephew. I know I'm very biased when I say, he's the cutest little boy ever!! He's so much fun to play with and the love of my life! Can't wait to see him again. :)
